Located at 801 S Oak Park Ave, Oak Park, IL 60304, United States, this cozy and inviting spot offers a taste of Ethiopian cuisine that transports your taste buds straight to the heart of Ethiopia.

The menu at Addis Cafe is a vibrant mix of traditional dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned fan of Ethiopian food, you'll find something to enjoy here.

One of the standout features of Addis Cafe is its injera. Made fresh daily, this soft, spongy flatbread serves as the base for most meals. It pairs perfectly with a variety of stews, like the Doro Wat, a spicy chicken stew simmered in a rich, aromatic sauce. The flavors are bold yet balanced, and the spices are an essential part of what makes Ethiopian cuisine so distinctive. If you're vegetarian or vegan, Addis Cafe also offers a variety of plant-based options like the Shiro, a comforting chickpea stew, and Atayef, a lentil stew that is just as satisfying as any meat dish.

What sets Addis Cafe apart from other restaurants in the area is its commitment to authenticity. The family-owned eatery doesn’t just serve food; they serve a piece of their culture. If you're unfamiliar with Ethiopian dining, it's worth noting that much of the meal is eaten with your hands, using pieces of injera to scoop up the stews and side dishes. It’s a communal experience that encourages sharing, making it perfect for group meals or a special family gathering. The restaurant offers a variety of combination platters, allowing you to sample a little bit of everything, which is a great option if you're new to Ethiopian food or want to try multiple dishes in one sitting.

  • WOW! I haven’t been here since they moved across the street and it’s been too long. The salted caramel latte & housemade chai were delish as well as the waffles & the fresh baked muffins (served warm) & scones! Everything here was perfection. Cozy place with a great ambiance & vibe, friendly service & quality food. Will definitely be returning more often to support this woman owned business.

  • Great cafe! Had a cold brew and the waffles with lavender cream cheese. The waffles were amazing! Can’t wait to try the other flavors. They also have some cool flavored lattes. Great music playing and can easily work from there.

  • I don't function without coffee, so I stopped here on the way to a job and got a salted caramel latte. They also had some muffins so I got a blueberry one. The nice woman behind the counter brought me my purchase and I was off. That first sip of the latte was surprisingly good. Normally all the goodness is on the bottom of the cup. What a great way to start the day! Thanks a lot. I also thought while waiting for the coffee that it was a shame to have to leave so quick it looks like a nice place to sit and enjoy the caffeine

  • Addis Café in Oak Park is a true stress reliever tucked right into the neighborhood—a place where the pace slows the moment you step through the door. The service is exceptionally good; every interaction feels warm, genuine, and attentive. It’s also a hub for like-minded individuals and small groups who gather to unwind, spark conversations, and exchange ideas over thoughtfully crafted drinks. The menu is extraordinary, filled with sensory-rich offerings that make choosing just one item difficult. I ordered the honey nutmeg latte, which arrived fragrant and silky, with the warm spice of nutmeg paired with a blueberry muffin—soft, buttery, and dotted with bursts of tart berries—it made for a perfect combination. The atmosphere is outstanding: calm yet vibrant, cozy yet full of inspiration. Whether you’re settling in with a book, catching up with friends, or simply treating yourself, Addis Café offers a space that nourishes both your senses and your spirit. A truly exceptional spot in Oak Park—highly recommended.

  • Warm vibes, friendly and chill staff, a great menu of coffee specialties. The place is always very busy since they serve a quality product. I enjoy the cozy and modern ambiance including the music they play. It’s a little loud for reading or studying bc of the amount of customers by not in a bad way. I recommend the Honey Vanilla Latte and some fresh pastries.

  • Ordered a oat milk latte that was very high quality with great, strong flavor. They make a great latte here. The staff was incredibly fast, provide great customer service, and were very sweet and friendly. Chill jazz music playing and a general great vibe. I also got an everything bagel with plain cream cheese. No special flavored cream cheese. I recommend this coffee shop and will likely be back next time I’m in Oak Park.
